Math for College Readiness
14 School Days Remaining
Good morning everyone, it looks like a beautiful day out there! This week will continue our exploration of word problems and how to convert them into mathematical equations. You can watch the video for a basic demonstration, but the textbook pages definitely give you great step-by-step illustrations for several kinds of questions. You only have one more Monday after this week; the school year is almost at its end. Best wishes to you today, and whatever you're doing, mix in a spirit of fun, and it'll be a great day!
Week #8
Monday, May 11
Topic: Ch 3.3 * Geometric Problems (Converted to Word Problems) Due: Tuesday May 12 (11:59 p.m.)
** Watch the YouTube video for a great explanation of how to convert words to an equation.
Assignment: 1. Study the pdf files for textbook chapter 3.3
2. Watch the YouTube video as needed; there are several more in the "packet" link I provided.
3. Do MathXL 3.3 (A)

Week #8
Wednesday, May 13
Topic: Ch 3.4 * Motion, Money, and Mixture Problems Due: Thurs. May 14 (11:59 p.m.)
Today we'll cover only the first two elements of this lesson, Motion and Money. I highly recommend watching the videos, and then looking through the textbook examples. Once you understand how to assemble and translate the word problems into an equation, the rest is easy! : )
** Helpful Hints
Motion Problems: When two objects move in the same direction, Subtract the smaller from the Larger.
When two objects move toward each other, Add the two together.
Assignment: 1. Study the pdf files for textbook chapter 3.4
2. Watch the YouTube videos (the first is just to amuse you)
3. Do MathXL 3.4 (A)
